Prepare your students for YAT.


Please take the time to talk with your students and encourage their participation. This is a great opportunity to compete against others their own age and have their work potentially displayed in a gallery.


Discuss with them which pieces they would like to enter or would like to create for the contest. Remind them of the January 25th entry deadline.

Purpose and Eligibility: This competition and exhibition offer an outstanding opportunity for high school students to showcase their artworks. This year’s jurors have been selected from the professional art community in Dallas. Open to All North Texas High School Students.


Location: H. Paxton Moore Fine Art Gallery at El Centro College at Main and Lamar Streets in Downtown Dallas at 801 S. Main Street.


Registration Information and Important Dates:

DECEMBER 4TH -- On-line Submission Opens

JANUARY 25TH -- On-line Submission Closes

FEBRUARY 4TH -- Email notification to students, and winning submissions are posted




All payments for the entry fees are done on-line. ENTRY FEE IS $7.00 PER PIECE.


Please complete the registration form on-line. Once you're registered you may begin submitting your work on-line on December 4th. The jury process will be viewed digitally again this year.



Each student may submit up to three entries.






All works must be titled and the category must be specified (i.e., jewelry or mixed media). Collaborative works are acceptable but must be properly identified by listing all artists involved.


Media Specifications and Size:

All works must be original and must have been completed on or after January 2018. (Works must not have been completed more than one year ago)

Any copies of another student’s work are unacceptable.

2-D and Photography/Digital mat size is 36 inches by 36 inches, matted in gray, white or black.

Large 2-D works on paper or canvas should be rigidly backed and limited in size to 36” x 36”

3-D pieces must be easily carried by two people.

3-D pieces must not exceed 36 inches in any dimensions, including stand or base.

Work displayed must be identical to work submitted online.

All work must be stable, installation ready, and dry upon delivery.

The gallery and YAT will make the final determination that work meets the submission requirements to be included in the exhibition.

Pre-Printed labels will be provided for the works selected for the gallery showing when you bring the works to El Centro on February 15th or 16th

FEBRUARY 4TH – Acceptance Notification Emailed

FEBRUARY 15TH from 4PM to 6pm – Work Accepted and Delivered to El Centro

FEBRUARY 16TH from 10AM to 12 Noon – Work Accepted and Delivered to El Centro

FEBRUARY 25TH - MARCH 20TH – Exhibit Open at El Centro

MARCH 20TH from 6PM to 8PM – Awards Reception. Awards Ceremony begins at 7PM.


PLEASE NOTE: All work must be picked up after the ceremony. No Storage is available onsite.


The gallery and campus at El Centro will be closed for Spring Break, March 11-15 (Mon - Fri).
